Kesatria Bumi
Overview
Kesatria Bumi ("Earth Knight") is an educational action-platformer that invites young players to protect the planet. Each level tackles a real environmental problem: the growing volume of waste, ocean pollution, the loss of the world's forests, and the poaching of endangered animals. Short animated videos and bite-sized environmental facts are woven into the game, so players learn why these problems matter while they play.
Mission: save the Earth from the damage caused by pollution, and inspire people to protect and preserve it for a better future.

The Challenge
Few games teach environmental care, and most educational games have a hard time competing with games made purely for fun. The goal was to build something that plays like a proper action game but still leaves players knowing how to reduce waste, keep oceans clean and protect forests and wildlife.
Meet the Hero

Every detail of the hero's design carries meaning:
- Brown hair represents the land.
- Blue eyes represent the sea and the sky.
- A green scarf stands for reforestation and the Go-Green movement.
- A red-and-white shirt echoes the Indonesian flag, celebrating the game's local roots.
- Batik trousers reference traditional Jakarta attire.
The enemies are the Perusak Alam ("Nature Destroyers"): the Garbage Monster, blast fishers, illegal loggers and illegal poachers.

Four Stages, Four Real-World Issues

Players move through a world map. Each stage has an animated intro, a training level, an adventure level and a final boss battle.
1. The Garbage Monster
Clean up a city overwhelmed by waste.

2. Let the Ocean Shine
Dive underwater to stop blast fishing and marine pollution.

3. Rise of the World's Lungs
Fight forest fires and illegal logging to save the forest.

4. Wildlife Rescue
Free endangered animals from poachers.

Beyond the Main Adventure

Motion-Controlled Minigame
Using the phone's accelerometer, players tilt the device to move the hero left and right and catch falling trash. They get three lives, and each missed piece of trash costs one.
Eco Quiz
Ten multiple-choice questions test what players have learned, one point per correct answer.
Insight Tree
A library of animated videos and environmental facts that players can come back to at any time.
Interface & Game Art
The UI uses a hand-crafted wooden, nature-inspired style that stays consistent from the main menu to the pause, settings, win and lose screens. It also has separate sound and music controls and a language setting.

The Process
- Concept: defined the genre, tools, characters, story script, levels and menu flow.
- Asset production: illustrated characters, environments, UI and controls; produced the animated videos; recorded voice, music and sound effects.
- Programming: brought all assets together in Unity and built the gameplay, minigames and progression.
- Launch: promoted the game on social media and through school presentations, with a giveaway for the fastest player to finish the game.
Closing Thoughts
Kesatria Bumi shows that learning and play don't have to compete. By turning real environmental issues into stages, enemies and challenges, the game makes topics like waste, ocean pollution, deforestation and poaching feel personal, even to young players. Every level cleared is a small reminder that protecting the Earth starts with the choices we make every day.
